Entry from: Versailles, France Entry Title: “A Colorful End to My European Travels” Entry: “Driving out of Normandy after my last stop at Café Gondree in Benouville on Aug 17, I pointed my little blue rental car towards Paris, knowing I had a plane to catch back to London the following morning, followed by a long flight home. Undoubtedly, the last few days had been as interesting and full of sites I had only dreamed of seeing previously as all of the other amazing places I had visited in the past five+ months. But at the same time, as I had decided it was finally time to head back to Texas, I knew that I had one day left on foreign soil in my Around the World trip and wanted to make the most of it. Having been to Paris on a few occasions, I knew that there was much to see in the City of Lights: museums, cafes, architecture, monuments and the like, and that it would be hard to decide where and how to spend my last day in France. However, as I drove closer to the city itself along the A13, I began to see signs noting the distance to both Paris and Versailles. Versailles — as many of you know — was the seat of government and home to several rulers of France — most notably King Louis XIV, the “Sun King” –during the 17 and 18th centuries.
